I hope that anybody here as a solution on this :

Every time I try to recover files from the Netware 5.1 Clients I get the error message that the server has cancelled the mounting of the tape, although he transports
the right tape into the Jukebox. The error message is like
this :
media event cleared: mount of <tape label> cancelled by server.

It's a bug in the latest version of Legato. It is scheduled to be fixed in v 6.1.1.

Just let it do its thing. After 15-20 minutes, it will start reading the tape on its own. Don't unload, restart, or anything. Just let it go. It's extremely annoying, but there's nothing you can do to fix it.

Thanks a lot for the information, rgzimmer !

It just worries me that the problem only occurs with NW 5.1
Clients, and that 6 weeks after the update to 6.1. There´s no problem with Win2K or NT 4.0.
I have already seen that he grabs the tape after a while but
after half of the restore job is done he breaks off with
the error message that he´s got a bad data stream.
Is this also caused by the bug in 6.1 ?

Yes, yet another bug. Was the error something like, "Bad or missing record: save set ID 2913649666, low water mark 517805928, current offset 517793544"

If so, this is another bug that was fixed in 6.0.2, but they forgot to compile into 6.1. It occurs with any client OS, though. The workaround is to remove the tape from the database and scan it back in. If you need instructions, I can provide them. There is a hotfix currently available to fix this as well, but it only works on new data, not data already backed up.

Legato support went almost so far as to say that they know they need work on the Netware side, but didn't exactly say it outright. I know of four specific bugs, which I outlined in another post. I actually found a fifth two days ago when I couldn't relocate the data on a directed recover. The error was "Error enumerating source path". I could do a directed recover using the same path locations, but trying to recover to a different directory kept failing. The directory existed, but if it didn't, I would have gotten the error enumerating the destination. My case is still open with Legato.

Thanks a lot once again !

Well, the error message was exactly like this ( high water mark, low water mark ), he also says that he disables a drive during the restore process. Anyway, the restore works after a few minutes.
But the hotfix would be very helpful for me, could you please send it to: thafener@web.bonprix.de ?
By the way I have opened a call with Orchestra, the German
Supporter. They did not ever hear about these errors so far they say....
