I stupidly changed the Operating System in my computer from Windows 98 to Windows XP Professional and formatted the HD with the NTFS file system. Of course I forgot to backup certain files which at the moment didn't seem important, but now I realize they are extremely important. Is there anything I can do to resolve my problem? Can I recover my Windows 98 files? Please help me ASAP as I need to access my lost files if possible.
Thanks, Tony

Thanks for the tip. I called the company that makes this software and they told me I can't do anything, because Windows XP erases the FAT tables and there's no way to recover my files. Thanks anyway.

Use "get data back" for Fat32, you should recover most may be all.
Good Luck

Can you please give more details about your post? How do I do that? Thanks.

I do believe they have a trial version to download. the full name is "Get Data Back" it comes for NTFS and another version for FAT. Just follow the instructions which come with it. I recovered data from a fat drive which had been formated for Linux, the original fat data could be recovered. Regards
