This is not a developer question, but I have not found anywhere else to ask it.
I have an SD card from an android device. The device is dead and gone, but there were photos on the SD card. Is it possible to mount that SD card in windows or linux and copy the files off of it?

SD cards are typically formatted with Fat32 filesystems for Android use, so a Windows PC should easily read them if still intact.

thanks, i thought that might be the case but wasn't sure. I guess the card is shot. What threw me off was that when you plug the card in, windows or a linux machine, it loads up and you see the folders and files for a couple of seconds and then the card disappears until you remove it and plug it back in. Never messed with any android stuff though so i wasn't sure.

thanks again.

Yes, you can put the SD card into a SD card adaptor, insert into a laptop or desktop with SD bay and navigate with Explorer.

What you may have experienced was the card (and adaptor) sometimes need a bit of a 'wiggle' to make contact and read correctly.

Good luck!
