Friends:

We have more than 1 volume for our exchange backup. With the help of mminfo, we are able to get all the volume names used for particular date, but unfortunately we dont' have media database. We want to use scanner command, but dont' want to waste lot of time.

In order to run scanner with less time, can you pl tell us, what information is needed for quick scan and how to get it. We were able to get different ssids for bunch of volumes, from mminfo but not filenames and record names.

Thanks for your help!

I don't understand how you can get an mminfo report when you don't have a media database. Are you really refering to the media database, or the client file index database (CFI)?

If you actually mean the CFI, and you are running NetWorker V6, then you can simply use something like:

nsrck -L7 -t <date> <exchange server name>

where <date> is the date of the CFI that would have the information pertaining the saveset you want to recover

if it is the media database you need to repopulate, theni nstead of trying to scan in the volumes, how about recovering the bootstrap that would have the volume information in the media database? That might be faster.

You could the -c parameter with scanner, such as...

scanner -iv -c <exchange server name>

Running scanner -m would not be sufficient because you need to use the NetWorker User for Exchange Gui, and this application reads the client file index.
