Hi all,

struggling with the following and would appreciate some help pls..

We are not 'live' with Exchange yet and so I am testing disaster recovery.

Our live DB backs up each night using NTBackup into a 'bkf' file.

I would like to be able to restore a single mailbox using this file.

When i run through the restore wizard it doesn't give me the option of restoring the bkf file to my Recovery Storage Group so how do I do it please?

Thanks
John

Cheers mate, if only I'd known that earlier! :)

Thanks a lot, saved me a lot of potential frustration.

Brick level backups are not the answer. You can't do a server restore with them. They require a substantial increase of workload on the server to perform (since it requires MAPI). You lose SIS, so the backup files are bigger.

Use an Exchange aware solution by a third party vendor. There is absolutely no need for brick level backups. Ever.

Hi Pat, to be honest I think I remember someone saying not to do brick-level backups. Can you recommend any third party vendors, I only know Symantec Exec Backup.

Thanks
John

thanks Pat,

Just ordered Backup Exec, so hopefully plain sailing from now on!

thanks again
