Recover a .PUB from a .TMP?

We're new to MS Publisher(XP). One of our design guys accidentally overwrote the .PUB that he was working on. We have a .TMP that is filestamped just before the overwrite took place, and is the correct size.

Is there anyway to convert the .TMP to .PUB? (we tried just renaming, but Publisher says "Cannot find file lost.pub"

We've also looked extensively in the Pub2K KB.
