Hello,

I have a very simple phone list database which is repeatedly showing people in the "A" category missing. I add their names(first & last), plus their extensions directly into the table or by using the form I have created. The record stays for a short duration then it disappears with no explanation. I made sure the permissions were set before distributing the database so that the users only have read/run permissions, no delete/add options at all.

The same names disappear over and over again, no matter what method I use to add them to the table.

Please help!
Andrea

Is the entire record gone? Do you have an incrementing ID number for the table...the typical autonumber primary key? If so, is the next record showing up incrementally.....

Ive got a similar problem with records going missing for no apparent reason. I have just updated my db to Access 2000 and thought it was just my imagination, but I'm still losing records from my customer list. There are no other users to delete them. I never lost any records in Access 97. Does anybody know how to stop this?

I am having this "missing record(s)" issue in Access '97, we have not migrated to 2000 as of yet.
Regarding the autonumber field, "Yes, I used the autonumber as the primary key to simplify the design, thereby not having to create a combo primary. I have just had a thought though, I could use the extension as a primary key since no one will have a duplicate phone extension.
I would still appreciate any help."
Thanks

I forgot to address the incrementing of the autonumber. The autonumber is incrementing correctly.

Before you use the extension number for the primary key ask yourself if anyone ever changes from one extension to another, as in when someone moves to a new office.
