Records duplicated at page breaks

I'm using CR 9 with Sybase ASE12.5 and have a report which produces two subreports for each entry in a table. The subreports produce lists of entries from other tables.

I'm getting repeated copies of records either side of some page breaks, e.g. the last ten records on one page are repeated at the top of the next page.

Any ideas as to why this might happen? I'm pretty sure it's an artefact of the pagination but I'm not sure if it's a bug or some feature that I'm not aware of.

First, you need to be certain that it's Crystal related, so test outside of Crystal (you can use MS Access by linking to the Sybase table).

There were some known bugs in Crystal 9, but I doubt that;s the case with so many duplicates.

You might also try selecting Database->Select Distinct Records.

I would guess that you have a join which is causing row inflation, I'd reference this possibility to your dba, they'll probably understand the concern and have a solution. Mention to them that you can use real SQL in Crystal if she/he can write it out, then use the Add Command under your connection to paste it in.

I'm seeing the same behavior in a report I'm working on.

No duplication without the subreport, but with the subreport, records that have already been printed on the previous page appear on the top of the next. It's really bloating the size of my report.

This is more of a pagination issue than duplication issue. The data is correct in both instances of the data appearing in the report. It's just that it appears twice in two different spots associated with a page break.
