Recording ports and network points

Hi all:

We have a network with some hp switches. I am wondering how can I keep track of which port connects to which patch pannel and to what office in the building. (the network keeps growing and it gets more difficult)
I could fill a spreadsheet, but does any one else know of a better tool?
