lets say I have a IP phone say a 5340, what means is available to record what is being said on the phone, I know with TDM phones they have DLM modules

There is a Record a Call feature on Advanced Voicemail.

First, do you know if there is a hard drive on the system, since record a calls take up room on the voicemail; that is where the calls are saved.

Your request is EXTREMELY vague.

What type of system do you have?
Software revision levels?

With respect to recording:

On demand or continuous?
How many concurrent sessions?
What type of access to recordings(User only or multiple users)
Do the recordings need to be saved for posterity/review?

my apologies, one of our locations will be getting a direct fiber feed soon right now and they mentioned wanted to recordsome of the stations, they have a old nortel CICS system and I was pondering the variables, 1 is just expanding the lines on the CICS, just poking in a bogen/Valcom Voip Extender, putting in a Node,(superset 4025) or Adding a couple IP sets, the voicemail is a Nupoint messanger,(ver 10 or 12I'm not positive) I'm pretty sure we don't have the recordacall feature enabled in the moss sheet, the recordings i believe would be on demand we will have to look at the pro's and Con's of each

I suggest rather than placing a per node, expand the data network to include the site via fiber - I'm sure you are going to do this to allow the data network to be expanded.

Get the Oaisis call recording solution and how ever many seats you need. You will also need the Mitel Secure Recording Connector, or disable voice encryption.

You might be able to re-use the nortel phones by using a Citel gateway. I don't have experience with them, but it is an option. I don't know if it will allow you to record the call though.
