How do I control the recording level
of the mic input on an I-mac?

How do I switch off the internal mic?

We wish to record music off tape onto an I-Movie,
when I plug the tape recorder into the mic socket
it's either really quite or very distorted.

I am an mainly a windows user and new to OS_X
so any help would be great.

thank you,

Bear with me, I'm writing this from memory at work on a PC not at home on my Mac.

Audio controls are located in the System Preferences I believe under sound icon. There you can control the volume and input devices.

For sound input I would recommend using a software application like Sound Studio (available for download at apple.com/downloads). It is shareware, but allows you to try it for 14 days (14 actual days of usage, not 14 days from time of first usage) before you have to buy. It allows you to set your input levels to the desired level.

Hope this helps.
