I have customer that wants to record conversations and save the recordings for an indeterminate amount of times. The customer has a Merlin Legend with 4.0 software. Any of you done anything like this. Four locations on different floors.
You need a Merlin Legend CKE4 processor or a Magix processor with a Magix R4.0, V7.0 software loaded AND a Merlin Messaging R4.0 voicemail to be able to use "Record-a-Call". You can upgrade a Merlin Messaging R2.5 and above to R4.0 firmware and software.
Of course - a cheaper alternative is to go to Radio Shack and buy a splitter for the phone's handset cable that has a regular RCA jack for connecting to a simple cassette tape recorder.
Thanks for the response. Knew about Radio Shack stuff, but not certain they want cassette tape. Did not know about other will get prices and present to customer.
One caution. The "Record-a-Call" option - unless you are able to get the newest version of the Magix Messaging R4.0 module and/or firmware/software upgrade - announces to both connected parties that the conversation will be recorded when the "Record-a-call" option is activated. Magix Messaging firmware release R4.0.43 - has the option for turning this announcement off and replacing it with a less obvious beep. However, I have not been able to verify whether that firmware load is available in the R4.0 upgrade package or whether you have to buy the latest Magix Messaging R4.0 module. Even Avaya can't answer the question. In either case - have the vendor VERIFY that you are getting firmware Release 4.0.43 and NOT release R4.0.42
