Does anybody know what product is available for recording calls? I have a couple of clients that run small(10-45 callers) call centers. One is mainly outbound, and the other is inbound. Both have expressed interest in recording calls. How are people doing this? What is the cost effective route for a small business? Thanks again for your help!

I have recorded calls using an in-line splitter off of the handset. All you do is get a 4x4 splitter, plug the handset into one side, and attach a "mini" (audio) end to the other side of the split. Then plug the mini into your recording device. (Computer microphone in, tape recorder, etc.)

A cheaper way may be to get a D/A converter to convert the digital set signal into standard analog audio. D/A converters usually run in-line with the phone so they don't interfere with functionality. What used to be DEES Corporation (now MCK) makes multi channel devices for this purpose.

Go to this site:

They make software that uses standard Soundblaster cards for call recording (assuming its an analog source, which the D/A converter provides). The software is very inexpensive.

MCK also makes a D/A converter that goes into your PC and can convert the phone data there. So, you could even eliminate an external box.

Hope this helps...
