Hey,
Does anyone here know a good way to record the computer monitor
directly to the camera. I'm doing a training tape of some company
software. I think I need a signal converter of some sort. Any suggestion?
Thanks.

Yes, I suggest looking into getting a device called a SCAN Converter. Its the best way to record what you are doing on your Computer monitor. Though its quite pricey

How about using one of those screen capture programs that records an AVI from you screen? Then export the AVI to tape.

I recall using a program called Microsoft Recorder (a free download in the Office section of their website). It dumps your screen activity to an AVI.

Good idea, though the problem with those programs is that they are resource intensive, and usually only record at 8-12 fps. For smooth video, 29.97 fps. , you'd need an external way to record video from your computer screen.
