i want users to be able to record sound in the browser window using their microphones, and have that sound file saved on the server for later retrieval. (format not critical, but mp3 ideal)

can this be done using flash media server?

are there any alternatives you know about? this would be the ONLY thing the site would do that would require FMS so it seems like a lot of expense unless absolutely necessary. is there another way?

is there a coldfusion-based solution? any ideas appreciated, especially if you've done it before.

thanks for the answer, kenneth. that server looks interesting too...
