Hiya all,

I am trying to pass an opening argument from one form to another. for example i am passing ID 4 to another form.

The problem is that the second form is a access created form showing all fields in a particular table (using access recordselection buttons on bottom left of screen) which obviously always returns the first record. But i want to be able to show a particular record that has the ID that i have sent in as an opening argument can anyone help please................

Check out ACCESS Help for Filter by Form. This technique allows you to open another form and have the current record from the calling form be the only record that opens in the second form. There is quite a lot of information in ACCESS help so look there for techniques on how to do this.

Another way would be to store the record identifier in the calling form in a Global variable. Then in the OnOpen event procedure using code to perform a GoToRecord or FindRecord command using that global variable to proceed to that record.

Just two ways to accomplish what you want to do.
