RECORD NUMBERING RESET

Dear All, I need a simple help from all. how to reset the record numbering for each new groups.
i.e,

for group1 ,

1
2
3
4

for group2, it should start from
1
2
3
4
instead
5
6
7
8

Use a running total field. Insert, field object, running total field, make it a count running total, evaluate on every record, reset on change of group.

If you are on version 6 or older of CR running totals are not available and you will need to use the three formula technique with variables, see teh FAQ area for a very good FAQ on how to do this. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

insert the following formula into the details section

count({field_name},{group_name})

make sure {group_name} exists otherwise you'll get the "Summary/Group field could not be created" crap.
