I am using CR 9 and using access for a datasource. I have the ODBC set up as read only but whenever I run the report, the database locks up. any suggestions on how I can make this truly a read only connection?

Are you sure that rows are being locked, or is the query such that it just slows the database to a crawl?

Post how you know that rows are being locked.

I had a similar problem, linking an Excel spreadsheet to a large table of data. When I put the spreadsheet first and linked the large table to it, the report suddenly ran much faster.
