I have a database which works great in 2000-2003 but when I take it to work and use 2010 it has a problem using the Find - Starts with filter provided. I have the form open and that box to find a record open by code. When a few letters are enter and I go to search it notes it cannot because the record is locked. This same database work great in 2000-2003. Anyone have an idea why or what I should do differntly for using in 2010?

On the surface, it sounds more like a locking configuration problem in access than anything in code.

On the File Ribbon select Options.
Then in the left pane hit the "Client Settings" button.
Under the Advanced section in the right pane you will find the record locking settings...
Default Open mode should be Shared, and Default record locking is No Locks by default. There are reasons to change from this but I'd lean towards handling specific cases in code rather than the whole Access application.

If this is not your issue more information about your file (network, one file or split) and how you are doing the find would be helpful (Ctrl+F native access find or some sort of code... if code post it).
