Record is too large error during import

Hello,

Trying to import tables from an ODBC connection and receive the following error.

Record is too large. (Error 3047)
You defined or imported a table with records larger than 2K. This error occurs when you enter data into the record — not when you define the table structure. Redefine the table by making some fields shorter, removing unneeded fields, or moving some fields to other tables.

Is there something i can do to get around this error ?

Hi

Well is the record you are trying to inmport > 2K ?

Access as it is telling you, has a 2K maximum on recordsize, see Specifications in Help

Is this data from an SQL Server db?
Can't you just physically store the data anywhere else and just store links to this data in the table and import then?

Hi Ken.

I haven't counted the fields to get a total of bytes, but i'm sure it is > 2k just by looking at it.

I thought maybe there was some way to override it or tell it to truncate so that i can get just the fields that i need.

Is that possible ?

Hi Andrea,

The data is from a Pervasive database on a local computer.
I tried linking to it and it works fine that way, but when dealing with the record counts shown below it never finishes the program. It ran for over 24 hours and never finished. Someone suggested that if i import the data then run the program, it would go a lot faster.

Items 2,698
Order Headers 92,502
Order lines 159,366
