It sounds like you might want to use filters. Have you tried reading up on those?

yes i have tried using a filter but with no luck
i want to set a filter thats says:

SELECT* FROM MyTable WHERE RecordCount < 20............ where recordCount is the number of records i want to see in my report
is there any way to do this?

Try setting a counter and looping through it extracting one record at a time. If you Table has an auto Number on a field all the better.
