I have a MXe with 20 voice ports. Ports 1-4 are in a hunt group and used for the Multi-level auto attendant. Ports 5-20 are in a seperate hunt group and used as the main voicemail hunt group.
If i wanted to use the record-a-call feature is it correct to create a third hunt group and use for example Ports 5-10 while still keeping them in the main voicemail hunt group.
These Ports 5-10 would then exist in two hunt groups.

Is this the correct setup?

You need to watch for message waiting. The message waiting port needs to be the last VM port, but in the same HG as your regular voicemail ports.

Thanks TheMitelGuy i've been bitten with that one previously. The reason i posted this question is that i have configured a system as i described (the last VM port was only in the VM HG) and i got a couple of phones getting callbacks (message waiting flashing)from the VM HG. I have cleared the phones a few times but it kept coming back so now i have removed the Record-a-Call HG (i did this about 18 hours ago) and so far the problem has not re-occured. I'm going to leave it another day to make sure the problem does not happen again, this will prove it's related to the Record-a-Call HG i created (but i've no idea why). I plan to create the Record-a-call HG again but only use a couple of ports this time instead of 10 (as they will hardly ever use it) and see if this works without the callback issue.
I will keep you posted on how things develop.

One thing to keep in mind nappyshock, is that if someone does use the Record-A-Call feature, that VM port is tied up for the entire time the call is being recorded. If you only have 2 ports in your record hunt group and both ports are in use, no one else will be able to use that feature.

Before we went to the Messaging Server, I used the ports 2-5 for recording and only Executives and Directors were allowed to record.

Now that we have the Messaging Server we have been able to open that up so that anyone is allowed to record.
