Hi there,

we are using a cognos-script macro for some printing tasks, which is running fine, but after we got the request to implement some changes on it we realised that the .mac-file has gone, so we only have the .mcx-file. As the programmer, who has been responsible for this has long left the company, now no one of us has the slighest idea of what he programmed once :-( So my question is: is it possible to "convert" the .mcx-file back, so we can see the underlying code??? I openend it in several editors, but the outcomes have not been quite helpful...

Thank you very much in advance!

Mahali,
I don't believe that reversal is possible, as you are attempting to 'decompile'. You'll probably be able to read strings that were in quotation marks if you open a .MCX in a text editor, but not enough to reverse-engineer the MAC.

I can only suggest you start looking for back-ups. [sad]

That's what I was afraid of :-( so I will start looking and try to rewrite it, if the search is not successful ... Thank you very much for your answer!
