Our hard drive crashed so we had to install a new one and do the Recovery, etc. HP XL768 - we use a D-Link DWL-120 wireless to connect to internet through another computer via a router (cable modem). Now that we have established the connection ( little monitor shows green with sweeping hand on icon) we still cannot connect to the internet.

We are running Windows ME... any trouble shooting ideas as to the various settings - especially the IP addresses, gateway, etc we are supposed to use? Our neighbor (who is now in Spain) set it up for us and we are fumbling throught trying to set it up.

Thanks

There is no way for us to tell you the IP and gateway you would need. However, you should probably be using DHCP which will take care of that issue for you.

Otherwise, check the machine connected to the router. That should give you some clue.
