Hi,

We have the following situation:

A person left our company so we changed the email address on their Mailbox Resource and then removed them from Server Recipients.

That person has now returned so we need to give them back access to their Mailbox but we're a bit stumped. If we add a new recipient it will create an empty Mailbox but we need them to use their old mailbox.

It's Exchange 5.5.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

If you removed them from server recipients you deleted their mailbox - to get it back restore from backup.

Sorry no.

I changed the email address on the Mailbox Resource so that it did not match that on the Server Recipient. This effectively means that the Server Recipient has no mailbox. I then deleted the server recipient and left behind the mailbox as the 2 were no longer linked.

I hope this makes it more clear.

Bob

The mailbox is linked by directory name to the directory object. What you did is deleted the mailbox as stated. If you still see the object on resources and not recipients then something crazy happened as that would not be by design and you can run DS/IS and just choose the first check box and All Inconsistencies. If this brings back the mailbox feel very special and don't try it again :)
