Hi there.

I'm new to this forum and to Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server v4.5 on Windows 2003 Terminal Server so apologies if this is a popular question..

I have a load-balanced server farm with two citrix servers, citrix1 and citrix2 (both running on VMware). I want a user to be able to connect to the farm from a Wyse terminal and, for arguments sake, be directed by the load balancer to citrix1 where a session is created.

If that user then either 1) connects via another terminal while the session is still active (ie the user has left the terminal logged in) or 2) disconnects and wishes to reconnect to that session and ends up directed to citrix2, I want that user to be able to reconnect to the previous session.

Is this possible?

Are there any guides on the net that explain how to do this please?

Thanks for any and all advice.

daryn0,
You should be able to do this with all of the Citrix native products.

Citrix metaframe (by default) is a load-balancer between published applications. The load-evaluators that you configure will determine which server a user needs to connect to when launching an application. You can set load-evaluators by CPU %, Memory % or number of users per server (my favorite).

Citrix also provides a web page (Citrix Web Interface) that a user can go to and launch the application.

You can configure your connection settings via the Citrix Connection Configuration utility. This will allow you to configure the time out settings and disconnect settings of your Citrix Server.

If a user is disconnected (and hasn't been reset by your configuration settiings) the Citrix server (Data Collector) will check to make sure that the user doesn't have a previous session open. If the user does have a session in a disconnected state...the Citrix Server will redirect him to that disconnected session. This should all be done automatically.

I hope that helps.
