We had someone call us yesterday regarding a CallPilot they bought elsewhere. Seems they "accidentally" configured their CallPilot for Call Center, and now want to reconfigure it for Voicemail. After resetting the CallPilot he tried to reconfigure, but it now skips over the section where you normally have a choice between Call Center and Voicemail. Nortel told this guy that the only way to reset it back to Voicemail is to send it in to an authorized dealer. Is there any other way around this? If not I will need to add to our quick reference guide on CallPilot to beware of configuring for Call Center as it will be very hard to undo.

Brian,
There was a lot of posts on this issue. Once set to Call Center the thing won't go back to the original start up point. It will if you choose voice mail but not Call Center.
Your customer will have to send this unit in to a dealer who knows how to reset this. I don't know whether some interconnects have this figured out or if it is key/serial number coded from Nortel who then are contacted by the authorized dealer.
Pretty dumb eh?

Cheers

I thought I vaguely remembered an issue about configuring for Call Center. Thanks for verifying. I did have a call from a nice guy named Mike who gave me a possible method for resetting. I will post the procedure when I have a chance to play with a CallPilot.

The procedure Mike gave me did not work. It involved dialing F982, password (OPERATOR), dial 1, password = REINSTALL. It still did not give me the option to reconfigure for Call Center. I also discovered that once a CallPilot is configured for Voicemail you can't go back to Call Center, but a keycode can still be purchased to add Call Center. I'll post again if and when I figure this out.

I haven't tried it on the CP. But the flash can be defaulted by shorting the internal capacitor.

I think this may be like the issue with a Flash that has been configured with Lite software. Shorting the cap does not allow use of the AA feature. Only the purchase of a keycode allows full use of Flash features. I will try it with a CallPilot and see what happens.

Brian,
I defaulted the CP100 several times through F983 1 and REINSTALL and I am quite sure that the option for CC came up each time. This was an early CP. When, however, I chose the CC option .. that was it no going back to Vmail.

The CP's I've been playing with are R 1.5. I'll try to check again today, but the last one I configured for voicemail and then did a reinstall on did not give me the option for call center anymore. I'll report back when I have a chance to check it out.
