Recommended no. of files in my LES971 Setup

Hi,

I am running LES971 with an Oracle Database on EFS. Management intends to put in a substantial no of Outlook .msg (1.7 million emails, 25GB) in it. I am concerned about the 1.7 million emails, I'm not sure whether after adding it in will cause significant load on the DB and result in performance degradation to the extend that it renders the system unusable. Note for every email there will be a category with one attribute attached to it.

My Oracle is running on 64bit with 16GB RAM.

Would I be able to estimate a recommended no. of files for my LES971 setup? If you need more information do let me know.

Content Server is more than capable of handling that amount of content, although as you mention there is likely to be some backlog during the upload process as the system indexes them. There could be space and performance issues depending on the current performance and configuration of your environment.​
