I need a monitoring tool for SQL Server to monitor our Prod SQL DB servers. We currently have about 100 server and we normally have to manually monitor each box. We are looking to monitor the following:

- Failed SQL Server jobs
- Disk space
- SQL Agent up/down
- replication

I know that tools such as Whatsup Gold and Oracle Grid Control have certain capibilities but is there anything else out there in the industry? Thanks in advance!

I'd take a look at Microsoft MOM.

I've heard from a co-worker that MOM is a real pain in the butt if you want it customized, but as long as you only care about the canned reports & interface, it's a good tool.

Here's the link:

Once I attended for a QUEST litespeed seminar and one of the sales person has indicated 1 year free licence and if you are interested here is his email address.

"contact Ryan Dowd from Quest
Software if you are
interested in taking advantage of the offer he made at
the last meeting (free licensing for Quest SQL Server
products for 1 year...maintenance/tech support
included). Ryan can be contacted at 781-229-6300 ext
213 or ryan.dowd@quest.com "

Litespeed is AWESOME! The only thing you have to remember (post-install) is when you go to edit / Create your backup maintenance plans, it has to be done through the Litespeed console not SQL EM or SSMS.

Other than that, it has dramatically reduced our SAN space usage and cross-network backup file transfer time (between sites/States).

WHOOHOO! Go Litespeed. @=)
