Recommendations. Guys I recently passed my Network + exam but my experience with networking is still limited to the basics to a certain degree. However, my manager is very open to my expanding my horizons and getting involved more with the servers, for example. I recently installed server 2003 on a PC I have at my house, and I basically want to use this as a tool to gain some valuable experience for work. I'm planning on connecting two or three PCs to this server, and I'm going to install DHCP, DNS, WINS, etc and I would also like to install active directory and alteris to practice with that as well because we use it at work. Anyway, please give me your advice as to how I can get the most out of this server, etc so the experience is transferable to work in a meaningful way. One site note if this matters: I have a wireless N router at home and I obviously use this for my internet. Not sure if this can be incorporated into what I want to do. Thanks much guys.

One of the best tools I found for playing around with installing servers etc.... is vmware!

As long as your home pc is powerful enough you can quite happily install 2-3 servers, and a few xp / vista workstations too.

Best of all, vmware server is free :)
