I am planning to run mysql community server 5.1 on a linux box.

Can you guys recommend me linux flavor that i should use?

Could you please share your experience?

I'm sure you'll find that most people favor one distro to another. I myself have come to like the Ubuntu/Kubuntu flavor. I'm running several LAMPs (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) on Ubuntu. It's very easy to set up and maintain.
