I need a 24 port PoE Gig switch with 2 gbics. I need all 24 ports to be up to the IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) class 2 standards. What would you recommend?

I would get a 3560:
WS-C3560G-24PS-S
Catalyst 3560 24 10/100/1000T PoE + 4 SFP + IPB Image

Any potential requirement for growth?
Do you need routing on the switch?

The 3560 is a good switch and a good suggestion you can't go wrong with, but you should at least do a price & features comparison with the 2975.

No need for layer 3. Just need layer 2 switching with VLAN support.

As a general rule, this is how I make my selection:

Layer3 v. Layer2
3xxx v. 2xxx

Stackable v. non-stackable
3750 2950 2975 v. 2960 3560

*** there is a 2960-S which is apparently stackable. Never seen one.

And then, 24 v. 48 ports

And, number of SFP ports required, 10Gb ports required, power redundancy.

It's good to talk to a good sales rep - one who knows what s/he's talking about(!).
They'll try to make a happy customer of you and reduce the risk of you getting the wrong thing.
Plus s/he might throw a bit of freebie merchandise your way if you're lucky...

I forgot to mention PoE.

These days, PoE adds very little cost, and gives good future-proofing. Get it if you can.
