Hello,

I have a network based on a Windows 2000 Server that I want to share the Internet connection. I need to install a firewall to protect it.

Freeware is preferable, but I'm also willing to look at purchasable softwares. Anyone have any recommendation? If is possible, names of the softwares and/or website links would be great.

Thanks so much,

Camarate

Goner05,

I think that your indications are only to a workstations.

Do you have an option to Windows 2000 network server?

Thanks

Camarate

On the Symantec firewall link go to Symantec Client Security 3.0 With Groupware Protection Business Pack (first product on page) is built specifically for a win 2000 server or can be used on regular desktops. In the description it also integrates with exchange (if applicable) for a e-mail scanner as well.

I have used the Zonelabs Pro edition on my private 2000 sever lab at home and have not had a problem with it interfereing with the server (just have to make sure you configure it properly)

Or as pinkpanther56 said a hardware firewall is a better way to go. Most are easy to set up and use no additional computer resources to run.

Lots of choices, I find most just go with a personal preference and make it work for them.
