Hello,

I was wondering if someone could recommend or help me on this. The company I work for is using an application with the back end on Oracle 9. I am not familiar with oracle at all and I am more comfortable using Microsoft SQL Server. Now If I had the data I needed from the Oracle database migrated to the Microsoft SQL server database, I would then feel more comfortable creating/writing stored procedures and views. Only a few tables would need migration but the data should be updated real time. My first question is it relatively simple to move data from Oracle to Microsoft sql. Does one see any issues with this strategy. What if I wanted to replicate the whole database on SQL server. The data will be used for reporting purposes but the environment is not my expertise. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the reply LKBrwnDBA:)
Can you explain a bit further. Don't replict tables into SQL from Oracle. Can you expand on that. Thanks.

It would be better for you to learn Oracle and stick with it.

But if you do choose to use SQL Server, you could create a direct connection to Oracle. [thumbsdown]
