Hi all,

I am at the point where I'd like to hook up a second monitor to my HP slimline desktop model S.
I can see that there are at least a zillion makes/models, most of which have either ATI or GeForce chipsets but in lieu of trying a lot of them I thought I would ask if anyone has either done this successfully with Windows 7 Enterprise or is familiar enough to recommend one that would inexpensively fit the requirement. I need to spread my desktop across the two monitors for development.

Thanks to anyone who makes a recommendation. Must appreciated!

Why don't you give us the EXACT model number of your computer so we can verify what type of slots are available in your PC and whether it will actually fit an add-on card. However: If you KNOW that it will take a PCI-E card for example and you know it will fit a half-height card, then you can just pick any of the cards (Nvidia chipset my preference) with two outputs and you should be fine. You should disable the built-in graphics card in BIOS or else in Device Manager and just use the new card for both outputs. This is not rocket science and you don't need a mega-expensive card. Just make sure you have the correct cables to match the output on the video card or else you'll have to get an adapter.

Something to get you started (with DVI, VGA and HDMI) Link

Thanks you two. I ended up purchasing an nVidea based EVGA dual monitor video card which my Win 7 Ent identified and configured automatically. It works very well and only cost me $18 new. Go figure. [smile]

$18!!!!!!!!!! I'm remembering my company spending over $1000 each for some 3D video cards for CAD PCs in about 1997. Today, you get the same horsepower in a $100 card.
