I am using Crystal Reports version 6 for the first time.
in trying to link 2 tables together, i continually get the message "invalid file link - not an indexed field" even though the fields (SSAN) are indexes in both tables.

I tried their example of linking the movie data base with the studio data base and i get the same message.

Is there a setup step i have missed? [sig][/sig]

Remember that indexes only apply to PC Datafiles, not to ODBC.

If you don't see the colored index tabs, then you have to manually Add the index. In the visual linking window, right click the table and select "Add Index". Browse to the index file and select it. Once added it should show tabs on the index fields. [sig]
Ken Hamady- href= Reports Training by Ken Hamady
[/sig]

Right clicking the table gives me the
Browse field

Description
Cancel
( Add index is not hilited - so it's not an option)

What type of database are you reading?
Are you using a customized version of Crystal (like Pervasive) or the generic version?

You can't even use the "add" button to add the indexes to the sample files?

I just tested my v6 and I think something may be wrong with your installation.
