Recognizing fonts on Photoshop 6

I've installed Photoshop 6 on my PC. It starts very slowly searching for a list of fonts. After done, using the tool "Text" it shows the above list but still slowly, dividing the list on two parts, alphabetically sorted.
I have less than 400 fonts on my fonts directory.
All this with Photosop 5.5 didn't happened.
What can I do?
Delete a lot of fonts still?
Someone help me!

I would suggest you get Suitcase (10) or some similar programme - then you can keep seldom used fonts in a separate location from your fonts folder and PS will open quicker.
