I have been having the following problem since upgrading my mail server to Domino 5.0.9
When receiving an external email and a user is one of a number of recipients, the address is corrupted and always lists the recipient viewing the message as a 'bcc'. In addition to this the rest of the 'To:' address field is corrupted, sometimes you can see some of the other recipients until the field is truncated at any give point in an address by the vertical bar symbol, other times you cannot see any of the other recipients.
Now for the real inconsistencies:-We reload our IBM iSeries running OS/400 5.1 (Our domino server platform) every week in exactly the same way. The problem will run for multiples of one week (anywhere between 1 and 4) until the iSeries is reloaded and then the problem will disappear, again for multiples of one week (anywhere between 1 and 4) and so it goes on...
This problem was raised with Lotus support but they spent so long avoiding calls and dodging issues that our support contract ran out.
Does anyone have any ideas or at least heard of a similar problem?
Thanks in advance

Yes and here is what you do to correct it:

Go into the administrator client on the configuration tab, open the server twistie and go to Configurations. Highlight and edit the configuration document for your server.

Go to the MIME -> Advanced-> Advanced Inbound Message Options tab and change the field "If each recipient's address does not appear in any address header, then add their address to the BCC list:" to read No.

Please let me know if this helps. There are a couple of other things that you can check, but I am too asleep right now to be able to think of them.

I hate it when 1st level Lotus support can't get the basics straight.

Hmmm, Interesting... one of the last things Lotus advised me to do prior to our support contract expiring was to change that setting from the default ("No") to "Yes". I've reverted to "No" for now, I'll let you know the outcome.

The problem still exists although in a slightly different guise. No entries in the 'BCC' field now, but the 'To' field appears either empty or corrupted again with the vertical bar symbol until it is truncated half way through an address.

Could you do a cut and paste of that from one. I need to visualize it a bit better.

Thanks,

Leo

This is the 'To:' field, as you can see, the final address is truncated halfway through although on some occasions this field will appear completely empty.

Check the following setting:

Admin client - Configuration tab, expand Servers, click configurations, the double click the configuration document for this server to open it.

Goto the Router/SMTP tab, Advanced, Commands and Extensions.

Change EXPN Command to Enabled. Save the Document. This should take effect without having to re-boot the server.

If it does not appear to take effect, from the console do a tell router restart.

Leo,
You are, indeed, the man.
At least I can now give my users a definitive answer and schedule an upgrade to fix.
Thanks,
Tonty.
