Within our office we are using a database to send offers out to our clients. When sending the .rpt to file we are exporting in the 'Rich Text Format'. I have just recieved a phone call informing me that they could not read the file. I asked them to forward me a copy of the email that they recieved, and below is what they sent back:-

It's just common sense, shame sense isn't common!

erm, what application are they trying to open the file with?

personally, I wouldn't export to anything but pure text, csv or snp when there's graphics...

They are running Windows XP Professional 2002, which is what we are running within our office.

I have checked with other clients, and they can all see the file fine.

I am guessing now, that it might be something to do with their firewall.

If they are using OutLook to read mail then ask them to try changing the setup
OUTLOOK > TOOLS > OPTIONS > MAIL FORMAT
Use Microsoft word to read RitchText....
This could be a problem.

when I say application, I mean is it MSWord, Notepad, Wordpad, GVim... or any of a host of editors?

I know people who would have an instance of 1 application open, and then use it like explorer, i.e. goto file>open> then select "ANY" file!

totally corrupted a important file that way, I wasn't happy, but they still do it!
