Hi.

I have Exchange and Domino 5.0.8 coexisting - with a shared domain namespace. (firstname.lastname@mycompany.com)

Emails are routed from internet to Exchange; if they do not have an exchange mailbox, they get forwarded to Domino. Once at domino:
a) If they have a Notes account, the email is delivered.
b) If they dont (e.g. invalid.user@mycompany.com), it gets forwarded back to the Exchange server (smarthost). A forwarding loop then begins.
I need Domino to send an NDR. Is this possible?

FYI.

OK - reconfigured to make this work.
Removed Exchange as smarthost in lotus domino administrator - messaging settings.

Changed Foreign SMTP Domain for *.* to fwd to my Exchange server.

Added a sub-domain to users in NAB who have exchange mailbox; fred.bloggs@exchange.company.com

Then added fred.bloggs@exchange.company.com as secondary SMTP address in Windows AD for Exchange using recip policy.

Emails from Notes to Fred Bloggs or fred.bloggs@company.com get fwded to fred.bloggs@exchange.company.com which gets SMTP'd to Exchange and delivered.

Lovely jubly.

... finally needed to turn on address rewrite so emails to internet AND x@exchange.company.com address were rewritten so To:, CC: (and from:) are rewritten to AD primary SMTP address - x@company.com.
