We use Outlook for mail and Notes for databases.

Anyone know how we recertify users without them having to accept an email???

Have you tried recertifing there person document in domino administrator?

Yes, but it fails and I can see no messages in the Certifier Log.

I assume this (once I get it working) will generate a new .id file fo the user - which they will need to install?
Or would this not be required? i.e. - I could recertify 5000 users at the touch of a button???

I won't generate a new ID. It will update the id when they connect.

What's the error your getting when tring to recertify.

Er, I think I better check with our notes admin first, eh!

I select a certifier id.... dolcert.id nabbed from the server.
Then I get the "Renew Certificates in Selected Entries" popup...

Renew Certificates issued by:
/DOLS (NB this is not my root domain name - should it be?)

New cert expirt date...etc.

Press OK, then I get "Processing Statistics"
Entries selected: 1
Succeeeded: 0
Failed: 1
etc.

I have the same problem. We use Outlook.
I found the steps below, but they do not tell you that the ID file must be on the workstation with Domino Adminstrator loaded on it. I've tried to recertify them on the server, but I recieve errors. When I copy the ID file(s) to my C drive (in my Lotus\Notes\Data folder with the cert id and my Admin id), it works.

From Domino 5 Administrator Help
Recertifying a Certifier or a User ID

1. From the Domino Administrator, click Configuration.
2. From the tools pane, click Certification - Certify.
3. Choose the certifier ID used to issue the certificate, and click Open.
4. Enter the password for that certifier ID, and click OK.
5. Choose the certifier ID for one of the following:
Organizational unit
Server
User
Organization certifier (when the Organization certifier is used to certify itself)
6. Enter the certifier ID password and click OK.

Um, I was using the wrong certificate id. [blush]

Got the right ones now and can certify users without their involvement.

I right click the users (or a selection of users) on the Admin NAB. And select Recertify.

However, gmctrek's procedure requires the user's id file - AND there password aswell as the certifier id and password. So, I wonder how they are different. I assume doing it via the NAB, updates the user's id file when they next log in. Or something cool like that.
