hello everybody,

my CCNA is experied on 2 nd novenber 2003, how to recertify the CCNA, by going for present CCNA, or any of advanced certification, please help me in this concern

it seems to me since your CCNA has expired, you are stuck with looking at another CCNA exam (640-801), since it is pre-requisite for all advanced certification.
it has been 3 years since you have taken the CCNA. be advise, significant amount of test materials has been added and deleted. IPX and all novell terminalogies are long gone and replaced by Link state protocols (i.e. OSPF). I believe, ISDN is a strong contender. I don't think the test had any simulation questions 3 years ago. If i remember correctly simulation questions were added 2 years ago.
There are more changes and you can read about it at cisco website
After CCNA, CCSP may be the better choice over CCNP because of two reason:
- specialized (many companies are concerned with security)
- not too common (better chance of employment)

some people i know goes to for test registeration. i personally go to for convenience. i'm sure there are many other registration sites.

shirdisai,

Like I said before, you have no choice from choosing between CCNA and CCSP.
CCSP is professional level where one needs to be CCNA certified.
So you are stuck with taking CCNA.
Although you have no option, CCSP is far better than CCNA.

Think of CCNA as Bechelor's Degree and CCSP as Master's Degree. You can't get Master's Degree unless you are already have obtained Bechelor's.

shirdisai,

Like Nzarth mentioned,
It all depends on your concentration.
If you feel like all the materials are too much to handle in one exam, they have broken down into 2 exams to share the load for you.

you can take one exam 640-801 CCNA for $125

or broken down into one 641-821 Intro (beta) and 640-811 ICND: $50 for beta exam and $125 for ICND, but these prices are my guess only. (if i'm wrong, someone please correct me)
If you really want to know, then go to to register for that exam up until pricing window shows up. After that, just cancel the transaction.

Since you are recertifying, so I presume you have adquate Cisco CLI knowledge. With that in mind, you wouldn't have trouble whiffing through 640-801 CCNA exam, even those pesky simulation questions.

But if you are really curious, simulation question example would be like, the exam let the user configure OSPF single area routing network.
