I have a receptionist who is answering upwards of 20 POTS lines on a 7324 w/CAPS. Extremely busy, heavy inbound call flow. All calls directly transferred to users, then Vmail on 4 rings no answer. When inbound zero's out, it bounces back to the receptionist and she has no clue whether it is a new call or a non answered call.

My question is...Is there a easy and somewhat reasonably priced solution for her? I know distinctive ring is out. No way she sees the line and transferred indicator in her display...

Thanks ahead of time..

should come back to her as a double ring on intercom..
Remove the zero option..
Make sure she has a headset..

Is she operating the console without looking at it??????

Too bad distinctive ring is out. It REALLY works in this situation.

Arr,

Yes, she is not looking at it. I don't think she is capable of doing more than one thing at a time, and that includes chewing gum and answering the phone.

Do I need the Prime Set to be set to teh Operator in order to have the call bounce back via th eintercom? I was playing here and the zero option on a transferred call bounced back on the same line appearance, with the difference being the line number and the TRANSFER indicator appearing next to the line number..

Ideas??

Just off the top of my head, change the dial-0 action in the voice mail to a seporate DN. Place that seporate DN on her phone. When the DN is called upon, she will know it's from voice mail.

Avaya Guy, perfect..

That will work perfectly..Thanks

Try it because I believe as long as she has that line appearance on her phone it will still ring there.

This is very true, however you can do a couple of things:
1) Look at your display. You will see LINE ID>DN xxx. An example would be LINE 1>DN 221. Indicating line 1 is ringing to ext. 221.

2) Remove the lines from the console, and make them ring to the consoles DN. Why she is not answering the calls and looking at the console when she does it (inidcated above, I think), then why does it matter where the calls appear?

Avaya guy,

Good idea! But it will be limmitted to the number of Ans DNs avail on the system... and there are 20 pots lines here.

Bags, Loop all COs through to the reception station, using isolation diodes connect each one to the base of the rolly chair with a traveling cable. Then when it is an outside call she will hear ringing and get a 90 vac jolt to help her detect the difference between a double ring and a single outside ring.

Failing that consider a CO BLF addition possibly still available from Viking..

Cheers

You can do it with hunt groups if you have them.

Line appearances must be removed for Hunt groups and you will still be limmitted to the available limit of intercom keys.

I like ARR's second last post. That will teacher to start looking at the phone. In our case, our reception would get off her a** and actually do some work. I think I'm going to try this.
