Has anyone got a training manual that can be used to show a receptioninst how to operate the phones? All our receptionists have T7316E's with a KIM.
Had a look at the nortel user documentation and its completely useless.

Cheers

I think maybe this is a tough one cos there are so many different ways to set the system up.

I tell new people - if it rings - answer it. dah!

What sort of stuff u having problems teaching?

HAHAHAAHA! that is EXACTLY what i say :)

I have no problems teaching, I just want to leave customers with a fool proof manual that anyone can pickup and start using the phones.
I generally set up the system so there are 8 incoming lines, a kim with everyone programmed in and simple features like voice mail, transfer, park, page, pickup, conference, call forward etc
I was hoping someone else has already made one

Its a great thought and of course possibly an expectation.

Trouble is with manual's - do they ever read them?

When I bought our system into place I tried to simplify it as much as possible and provide the information in written and taught form but basically its up to the individual if they take the batton and run with it!

Maybe it would be better to do the basic training and return later (if necessary) to answer any questions.

May not be practical but there is a lot to be said for 1 on 1, plus if they know its a limited time learning curve they may make more effort.

Why not build your manual up bit by bit starting with the absolute basics?

Good luck!

Yes I usually spend a day training staff in groups. And i have already created a pretty good manual with the basics,

I was hoping someone had a better manual as I have been asked a couple of times for a detailed manual that temporary receptionists(that have not been trained) could pick up and start working.

If you have created a manual are you willing to do a 'manual swap'?

Imagine that! A customer wants to take a person who has had no training and sling him/her onto the primary contact point for their business!

IMHO, I would recommend to the customer that they create their own manual using the experience and wisdom of the person who uses the system and is most familiar with how it is set up.

What I do on installations is give the end user a 2 page word document highlighting the most commonly used features and how to do them, and also simplified voicemail.

I normally do handset training with a group of users with these guides to hand, and it seems to go down very well with the customers.

I have an agent 'logon', 'logoff' and 'busy' procedure. You are welcome to a copy of that.

Have never been that successful with getting people to follow manual's, or procedures as we call them.

My original notes were training notes but you are welcome to those if you like. Mind you cannot find where I put them on my hard-drive right now!
