Hello,

On our cs1K 7.0 we have a mini reception phone - 2616 where sometimes receptionist is greeting people would like a ringing incoming call to go direct to voicemail with a push of a button. So a call is ringing in and we would like to send to voicemail without waiting for it to FDN after 4 rings. Is there a button that can do that? I know the forward button will do that but we want to send to voicemail after the call started ringing.

Thanks,

Not with a M2616. But this functionality is available with IP Phones on CS 1000 7.0 and above. Look at "Call Deflect for IP Phones" in the Features & Services NTP.

"This feature allows a user to deflect an incoming call. If a user presses the Deflect feature key, then the incoming call is redirected with the same treatment as if the line was busy and HUNT DN was configured. If HUNT DN is not configured or HTD (Hunt DN Denied) is configured, then the call originator receives a busy signal. The Deflect key feature is intended to deflect a call to voice mail or to another DN when the user does not want to answer the call and does not want to wait until Call Forward No Answer processes the incoming call."

You could put a make busy key on the phone and set the hunt to voicemail. When the receptionist pushes the make busy key the switch would think the phone is busy and redirect to mail. Maybe?

Thanks Gwebster, I tried the Deflect on my IP set and it worked like a charm. The MSB key does not work for my purposes, once call starts ringing in, pressing MSB does nothing for current call but it does make set busy for the next call coming in. Only problem is we are not ready to roll out voip phones yet - still trialing stage.
