Does anyone know what could be causing this? This is occurring on a Windows 2003 Server with SP2 installed (running SQL 2000).

The error message we are getting in the logs is:

Event ID: 0xc0001201 (4609) the COM+ event system detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 80070003 from line 333 of d:\nt\com\complus\src\events\tier2\eventsystem2.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

Any assistance you can provide would be most appreciated!

Thanks everyone.

Did you start by entering

the COM+ event system detected a bad return code during its internal processing.

In Google. There are a few hits u can investigate

yes, which has led me here because I was finding entries about sound card drivers being the culprit... and video cards... etc. which are not the problem.

I found one article from Technet that said there wasn't enough detail provided in the error but there was a verification process to follow to ensure that COM+ was running okay.
