A remote site wanted not only caller number but caller name. LEC activated option as it is PRI NI-2 but not really what we expected. We either get calling number or calling name in the 2 line dispays of 64xx sets but not both based on the US NI Delay setting in the trunk group. Plus the calling name is not very standard. Ranges from callers name, callers state or wireless indications. Wondered if anyone has some suggestions on config changes that might help. I wonder if changing codeset from 6 would help any ? johnsbo

you got 5 settings, bn-only, bn-pref, cpn-only, cpn-pref, and none
if you do get both sets of data, only one will display, the second line on the phone will display destination, agent/vdn/etc
we used to get cpn info, but it was so inconsistant, , basically what you mention.. so we just put in bn-only,
also, if the calling party has a private number, you probably will not get those numbers either..

Caller name uses a database lookup by the provider, it is not sent by the caller. It sounds like you are using MCI/Verizon business like us. They refuse to use the shared public data base and instead use their own very limited data base. If it cannot get the detail it usually reports the city of the caller's CO. On cell calls it just says wireless. We are trying to dump them but its just so much work.

Not that this is an answer but we have noticed when a call comes in if it does not display all data, we can put the call on hold and then pick it up again and it will show all data (name & number). For what it's worth, we have Verizon.

Maybe not worth dumping MCI/VErizon as we use AT&T for local. Not sure if it depends on the originating callers provider or the destinations local provider that actually supplies the info. If it is the originator, you'll never control who is used. Thanks, Johnsbo

The settings that zen216 talked about are for att lines. You may want to play with them but the documentation does not reference names, just numbers.
