Hey folks, I recently purchased a used NBX100 to toy with in our Lab and couldn't access it via the Web Portal (even after setting the IP), I decided to reboot the system via the console port and seen the following on the screen. Can I assume this box is dead?

"NBX Database Intitialization failed"
Schema version mismatch
version for image: 000000932
version on disk: <Not Found>

Or do need to reload the software and if so how do I go about doing that?

The box is not dead, the database is missing or corrupt.
Is there another version of the software installed that you can boot to?
Try this, substitute the software versions installed on your NBX
Fix: To reboot an NBX 100 running NBX R2.0.5:
1. Ensure there is a console cable (serial) attached to the NBX 100, NCP card, COM 1 port
2. Reboot the box using hyperterminal (Control R command)
3. Press a key to stop the boot process at the "Press any key to stop auto-boot" prompt. The "[VXworks boot]:" prompt appears
3. Type "c" (without quotes). "boot device: ata=0.0" displays.
4. Press the Enter key to scroll down until you see the following: "file name : /dos0/R2_0_5/vxWorks
5. Type in the previous version (for example: "/dos0/R2_0_1/vxWorks")
6. Press the Enter key to scroll to the end
7. Type "@" to continue booting the box. You will see the following: "Loading /dos0/R2_0_1/vxWorks....."

That's what the problem was (corrupt software) I was able upgrade it to another version and the problem when away. Now question is hwo do I enter in these License keys. I see what was provide to me and the space I'm to enter in the nbx. And realize the whole 26 character key sting (minus the underscores) is longer than the space to enter it at.

So what do I really need to enter in?

You need to enter the whole 60 character key including the dashes.
a key would look like this;
C6123B9F-2DCF892101DDE623-E73AA861B24387BB-D37030CF-050F9C8E

Perhaps the key you have is the license that needs to be activated by 3com licensing to get the 60 character key for the NBX.
What browser are you using and what version is the software?

huh...I'm running version 4.0.10 currently and I only have 2 boxes with a dash in between them.

I think your right I still have to have these activated by 3COM. The webpage is giving me grief, I was able to create my new acct and see my site, but unable to select it to move on.
