Go to the Tools menu, then Accounts. Highlight your account then click Properties.
On the Servers tab, check to ensure that the SMTP server is correct. If you are on a standalone PC, this will be one at your ISP, whose helpdesk should be able to provide it.
If you are on a LAN, your network administrator should be able to provide it.
If you are on a private LAN but attempting to connect to an SMTP server at your ISP, in Outlook express, you should enter the name or IP address of the SMTP proxy server on the LAN, which will forward it out to the external server for transmission across the internet.
