Hi All

I am using Access 97 to print a receipt to a Star sp312 receipt printer connected to a cash draw. When the printer recieves a print job it automatically pops the cash draw.

Problem is when i design a receipt as a report in Access it doesnt!! However if i design the receipt as a form then it will...

any ideas anyone?

How did you setup Access to generate a receipt printer on the Star printer? I setup a custom page for the report but when it prints I don;t know how to get it to handle continuous paper. It jst feeds to the specified length but the legnth depends on the sale.

I take it your report is able to grow with no probs? THe prob is the printer will only print to a certain page length?

Mine had no probs so i am guessing it may be a setting in your printers properties. Also sometimes its worth playing around with dif drivers. I found some star drivers worked better (for my purpose) than the correct one.

Wah,

I'm especially interested in the cash draw 'popping'.

I'm using an Epson TM88 (thermal paper). I created the ticket as a normal report, and specified the 'receipt' as paper source. I enter the data in the form (sales-window), and when confirming the sale, it prints my ticket. However, my cash draw doesn't pop. There is no documentation available how this works.

Do you work with any escape codes to control your printer ? Or is it just the windows driver you're using ?

I have only had to do the receipt thing with a Star receipt printer so dont know how relevant this is to you.

The windo drivers for the Star had a check box if you want the till draw to pop open if the printer recieved a print request. I was using a Star cash draw.

The other way of doing it is using escape codes. I could get them to work on a Report but not on the Form. Cant remember what the codes are for Star and i guess they wont be the same for epson anyway. Contact Epson and they should email you them. Thats how i got them for Star.

I never got around the problemn as Access 97, Win 98 and Star have conflict problems when it comes to reports. However if you used a Form instead then the prob dissapeared. Then we upgraded to Win 2000 and looks like MS covered all bases in this OS as now the Form wont even work!

Anyways hope that helps and best of luck!
